The Government of Papua New Guinea will mark a significant milestone in the country’s digital transformation journey on Friday, 21 August 2026, with the official inauguration of Kumul Cloud Infinity — PNG’s Sovereign Cloud and AI Datacenter, at the Sheraton Hotel, Port Moresby.

The landmark facility, developed by Datec PNG and Telikom PNG, represents a major step towards strengthening Papua New Guinea’s digital sovereignty, data security and national AI capabilities.

This will enable organisations to securely host, process and manage critical data and digital workloads within the country.

CEO of Datec PNG, Preetam Talukdar, said the launch represents a defining moment for both Datec and Papua New Guinea.

“Kumul Cloud Infinity is not simply a technology project. It is about sovereignty in its truest digital sense — giving Papua New Guinea the ability to control, protect and build upon its own digital future.”Talukdar said.

He said the initiative reflects Datec PNG and Telikom PNG’s commitment to investing in infrastructure that will enable Papua New Guineans, businesses and institutions to participate more confidently in the global digital economy.

Minister for State Enterprises, William Duma will lead the inauguration and unveil the new Kumul Cloud Infinity facility.

This new chapter in PNG’s digital sovereignty is to ensure that Papua New Guinea has the infrastructure and capability to own, control and protect its digital future.

Kumul Cloud Infinity is designed to provide a trusted in-country environment for cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data hosting, enterprise applications and other advanced digital workloads.

The initiative also brings together the capabilities of Datec PNG, Telikom PNG and international technology partners, creating a platform designed to support PNG’s growing digital economy and the next generation of technology-led businesses and services.
