The Oro Rugby Football League Association (ORFLA) has received a K60,000 financial boost from its Patron and Member for Ijivitari, David Arore, as part of his K100,000 commitment towards supporting the continued development of grassroots rugby league in Oro Province.

The cheque was presented to A16 Trading, the association’s official club uniform supplier, during a presentation witnessed by ORFLA President Stephen Kila Pat, PNGRFL Southern Confederate Officer Karo Kauna Jnr and Referees Director George Kadui.

Mr. Arore said the funding was part of his commitment to strengthening rugby league and creating better opportunities for young players across Oro Province.

“My commitment is to support the growth of rugby league in Oro.

This K60,000 is the first part of the K100,000 commitment, and I want to see our clubs properly equipped and our young players given the opportunity to develop,” Mr Arore said.

ORFLA President Stephen Kila Pat thanked the Patron and Ijivitari MP for honouring his commitment and directly supporting the association.

“We sincerely thank our Patron for backing his words with financial support.

“This assistance will go a long way in equipping our clubs and strengthening rugby league at the grassroots level,” Mr Kila Pat said.

Kila Pat also acknowledged Oro Governor, Gary Juffa for providing vital logistical support during the recently concluded coaching and referees’ clinics.

ORFLA is working towards affiliating three additional leagues by 2027, as it continues to strengthen the sport across the province and lay the foundation for a potential future franchise opportunity in the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup.

The association is also expected to make further announcements in the coming days following consultations with the PNGRFL executive team.

The K60,000 contribution marks the first instalment of Mr. Arore’s K100,000 commitment and is expected to assist clubs with uniforms and other requirements as the association continues developing rugby league at the grassroots level.
