Sixteen couples of the Royal PNG Constabulary in Madang were joined together in Holy Matrimony last Saturday during a marriage validation service at the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

The marriage ceremony was conducted by Police Chaplain, Rev. William Pok, and was assisted by the Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rev. Ken Raphael and witnessed by Madang's Police Station Commander, Inspector Patrick Wallis and relatives.

Rev. Pok reminded the couples to honour the promises they have made and to keep God as the centre of their lives and their families.

"What God has joined in marriage, no one can separate, only death. You have made an oath with God, and you must make sure to keep that promise and remain faithful to each other, both in good and bad times.” Rev. Pok said.

Rev. Pok, however; also warned them to be wary of problems and temptations that may test their marriages.

"God has blessed your marriages with freedom to enjoy life.

"The marriage certificate is a very important document. Besides validating your marriage, it now gives you access to claim certain entitlements from the Police Force, such as accommodation and leave fares for your wives and children," Rev. Pok said.

Police Station Commander Inspector, Patrick Wallis said there are a number of reasons why police officers must be legally married.

"Your marriage certificates will enable you to qualify for privileges under the RPNGC. It allows your family to be officially recognised by the Police Force.

"A marriage certificate is a requirement by the RPNGC that qualifies an officer to be recognised for certain benefits," Inspector Wallis said.

He reminded his officers that marriage is sacred.

The PSC said he was honoured to have represented the Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent Robert Baim, at the important occasion.
