A joint operation by Simbu Provincial Administration, the Revenue and Liquor Licensing team, and police from Kerowagi MS 08 seized large quantities of cheap imported spirits at Yellow Race Trading Ltd and Ganyo 2 over the weekend.

Leading the operation were CID Sergeant Gideon Limbia and Principal Advisor for Revenue and Liquor Administration, Michael Wagi Kon with Simbu Provincial Government, (SPG).

Officers confiscated multiple cartons of "Trade Winds Blended Scotch Whisky" 175ml.

Sgt Limbia said the raid was conducted to enforce liquor laws and address the growing problem of cheap alcohol in the province.

Mr. Wagi Kon said the Revenue and Liquor team will continue inspections to ensure all businesses comply with licensing requirements.

A crowd gathered outside the supermarket as authorities carried out the operation, with officials inspecting shelves and speaking to shop staff.

The Simbu Provincial Administration said the exercise is part of a broader crackdown to reduce alcohol-related law and order issues in Simbu.

The seized items are being held as evidence while investigations continue. No arrests have been confirmed at this stage.

Authorities warned that similar raids will continue across Kundiawa and other districts in the province.
