NBC commemorates 60th anniversary of Broadcast House

The National Broadcasting Corporation of Papua New Guinea's Broadcast Haus today celebrated its 60th anniversary.

The event was unique as it was the first of its kind in the 60 years of the building's existence.

The celebration was attended by the NBC Board and Management, representatives from NICTA, the Department of ICT, the Australian High Commission, ABC International Development, and NBC staff.

Although the NBC Managing Director Kora Nou, ICT Minister Timothy Masiu, and NBC Board Chairman Ian Tauritia were unable to attend due to travel commitments, the acting Deputy Managing Director, Michael Samuga, expressed his appreciation for the Australian Government's ongoing support in delivering the iconic building to PNG.

Counselor Sub-National and Accountability of the Australian High Commission, Christine Charity, commended the staff of NBC for their contributions to nation-building and pledged Australia’s ongoing cooperation.

She also expressed pride in the longstanding partnership between Australia and the NBC.

Similarly, NBC Deputy Board Chairman, Henao Iduhu, highlighted the significance of the building, emphasizing that it houses the national newsroom, Radio and TV Programs, Finance, Engineering, Human Resources, Legal, and the office of the Managing Director.

He also underscored the building's importance in the history of Australia-PNG relations.

Former radio personality Allen Arifeai also shared his experience, acknowledging the building's impact on his life, stating, "This is the great place that made me a man."
