President of the PNG Chamber of Resources and Energy [CORE PNG], Anthony Smare, is encouraging the general public to visit the Grand Resource and Energy Expo currently underway at APEC Haus, with free entry for all.

The three-week-long event features over 30 exhibition booths from key players in Papua New Guinea’s resource and energy sector, showcasing the past, present, and future contributions of the industry to national development.

“This expo celebrates 50 years of the resource sector’s contribution to building Papua New Guinea,” Smare said. “All stakeholders are here, developers, landowners, landowner companies, government departments, to tell their stories and share how they’ve contributed to nation-building.”

He emphasized that the event is not only a celebration but also an educational opportunity for Papua New Guineans to learn more about the industry's economic and social impact.

"The resource sector has touched the lives of every Papua New Guinean. It pays for schools, for hospitals, for roads, but it also employs a lot of Papua New Guineans,” Smare said.

“It's put a lot of money into people's pockets through contracts that they have or as landowners and then that money is only spent on school fees, on you know on raising families and building a country."

Mr. Smare added that they expect over 20,000 visitors to attend the expo over the coming weeks.

He extended the invitation to students, families and professionals to attend and explore the booths. He said it is a free, informative, and a great opportunity to understand the role of resources in shaping our country.

The Grand Resource Expo commenced on Monday and will run for two more weeks at the APEC Haus in Port Moresby.
