Fuel rationing recommenced by Puma Energy earlier this week is now affecting Air Niugini flights as well.

Air Niugini released a statement this afternoon saying that the impact is now being felt in other centers of the country.

The national flag carrier outlined that aviation fuel rationing is affecting other airports such as Lae and Mt Hagen, whilst supply at certain other airports has ceased altogether.

This has resulted in Air Niugini reducing further its current domestic schedule, causing flight disruptions and inconvenience for its customers.

International flights are refueling overseas as far as possible, and therefore are not affected.

The airline has apologized for the inconvenience caused adding that they are working to address this issue and minimize the disruption caused.

However, the rationing of fuel by Puma Energy is entirely outside the airline's control.

Air Niugini stated that safety remains its number one priority and it will not compromise its operations.
