PNG Chamber of Resources and Industry [PNG CORE] President Anthony Smare has outlined the 26 pieces of legislation that were overridden by the Gold Corporation Bill, 2022.

PNG CORE revealed that in 2021 they wrote to the government regarding the consultation on the negative impacts of the proposed GCB with industry, and the parliamentary committee that includes Don Polye and Garry Juffa was appointed but no meaningful consultation has occurred.

"We urge the government to do a proper consultation with key government agencies, the industry experts, and other stakeholders so everyone must be aware of the negative impacts of the Gold Bill," Mr Smare said.

Mr Smare reiterated once the parliament passes this bill, it will either bypass, or undermine the relevance and application of the 26 legislations and he urges the Members of Parliament to go through and understand and carry out immediate consultation.
