Biru CS opens new staff house

The Biru Correctional Service (CS) Institute in Oro Province opened a new staff house recently, marking a milestone achievement for the institution.

Outgoing Commanding Officer, Chief Inspector Samuel Kiap, said funds for the staff house opening came from the institution's own internal projects such as poultry, cocoa and oil palm.

Mr Kiap said this achievement has come a long way with dedicated officers who worked closely under the management to achieve such a project in the institution.

He highlighted the importance of self-reliance, saying Biru is one institution that has succeeded from its own projects and has brought changes to the institution going forward.

Kiap said under his leadership, the staff house project cost the institution K60,000.

He said such good infrastructures are in place to boost the existing facility at the institution, and the asset must be kept in a good condition.

On this note, Kiap urged the Biru CS officials to work in unity and see progress at the Biru CS institution.

"We are out of support from the authorities, we at Biru can make a difference with the little we have," he said.

Mr Kiap has been in the position of Jail Commander for two and a half years and he will be leaving the institution to Acting Caretaker Commander, Senior Inspector Ludwick Monduk, while he travels for further studies overseas.

Kiap, under his leadership, also initiated and delivered single men's barracks housing 10 officials, built an institutional clinic, a staff house, cocoa fermenter and increased the poultry project.
