Assistant Commissioner of Police NCD and Central Command, Benjamin Turi is appealing to Port Moresby residents to report to police the whereabout of a suspect police officer identified in the shooting.

The officer is alleged to have pulled the trigger on a civilian just outside the Raibow Eliseo shopping center in Port Moresby on Monday afternoon.

Commander Turi says, the Constabulary will not tolerate ill-discipline officers, hence the matter will not be taken lightly.

He says, the suspect officer is also alleged for transgression within the force.

He added that the suspect is currently at large and alleged to have in his possession a R-P-N-G-C issued pump action rifle and is considered dangerous.

“We already put report to Provincial Police Commander Alotau and Oro, with police on the lookout for him including the driver of the vehicle. Victim has reported the case and he is expected to be charged for attempted murder and face the courts” Turi said.

ACP Turi has urged the public to report to police first should they sight him anywhere in the nation’s capital.

“IF anyone comes across him, do not go near, call the police and we’ll deal with him directly. Public must not approach him” Turi said.
