The Mineral Resources Development Company [MRDC]will take over Exxon Mobil's Mobil Oil New Guinea Ltd retail fuel business.

This follows the signing of the retail fuel partnership in Port Moresby on Tuesday.

Exxon Mobil Chairman and Managing Director Dinesh Sivasamboo says this transaction will help them focus more on bringing in fuel supplies to the country.

The acquisition will be undertaken by Star Mountain Service Station Limited [SMSSL], an
investment company owned by three MRDC.

MRDC Managing Director Augustine Mano said the acquisition forms part of MRDC’s strategy to strengthen and diversify its investment portfolio in the downstream energy
sector.
