50th jubilee celebrations launched for Kerema diocese

The Kerema Catholic Diocese launched its 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary Celebrations in Kerema Town on Saturday.

Parishioners from all the 11 parishes across Gulf, traveled into the provincial capital on Saturday, to witness this historic milestone for the church.

Catholic faithfuls from the parishes gathered at the Kerema Catholic Diocese Church for a special Thanksgiving Mass, which was led by Bishop Baquero, to mark the launch of the Jubilee year.

"The 50th anniversary is a time to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and renew the commitment of spreading the Gospel in the years ahead," Baquero said.

The celebrations will be held under the theme: 'Alive in Christ, Journeying Together, and Proclaiming the Gospel with Love and Mercy'.

Due to limited spacing at the Diocese grounds, smaller celebrations will be held at each individual parish throughout the province, during the year.

Each parish was also given a Jubilee Cross to take back and continue the celebrations in their own communities.
