Neralyn Lalo from Yalu village in Lae is the only Ahi woman selected under the Lae Labour Mobility Program.

Lalo has taken part in the program since 2004. She says the opportunity will help her gain new skills, work experience and support a better future for her family.

“It gives me a chance to grow, learn new skills, gain new experience, meet new people and work towards my goal,” she said.

Lalo is encouraging other Ahi women and girls to take up similar opportunities.

She says women need to step outside their comfort zones and be willing to try.“If I can do it, I know you can make it,” she said.

Lalo hopes her journey will encourage more Ahi women to seek employment and training opportunities.

For her, the overseas job is a chance to learn, grow and build a better future.
