Child and youth report deeply concerning
The report on Child and Youth wellbeing tabled in Parliament on Thursday by Special Parliamentary Committee Chairman Powes Parkop, highlighted deeply concerning national outcomes.
Led by the Special Parliamentary Committee on Children and Youths, and from two inquiries conducted in October, 2025 and April 2026 respectively, the report confirmed that too many children and youth remain left behind.
Chairman Parkop, says this is despite strong policies and increasing investments.

Chairman Parkop says key challenges facing the country are weak implementation, fragmented systems, poor coordination, weak data systems and insufficient accountability for results.
He’s called for the special committee to be “transitioned into a permanent parliamentary committee..” to ensure
This would institutionalize parliamentary leadership and ensure sustained national focus on child survival and development among others.
