Giant crocodile killed

A giant crocodile was shot dead this afternoon at Port Moresby’s Adventure Park after it attacked its handler.

Initial reports and videos from the scene revealed the gruesome moment the crocodile mauled the staff member.

Park officials and emergency responders struggled for several hours to free the handler from the animal’s grip.
The decision was eventually made to kill the crocodile in order to release the victim safely.

St John Ambulance officers attended the scene and provided immediate medical assistance. The injured handler was transported to the 3 Mile General Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

His condition and the full extent of his injuries have not yet been confirmed by hospital authorities.

Adventure Park management is expected to release a full statement following investigations into the incident.
