Mougulu secondary students sit mock exams despite border security concerns

Despite the kidnapping for ransom incident at Haiyafuli Village in Bedamuni LLG near Mougulu Station in the Middle fly District of Western Province, students in Grades eight 8, 10 and 12 at Mougulu Secondary School are currently sitting for their mock examinations this week.

School administration confirms there are about 145 students sitting for their mock exams including both day and boarding students.

The Grades 7, 9 and 11 students were sent home for school holidays last week Friday.

With the ongoing security concern at Haiyafuli village on the Western/Hela/SHP border, school officials say the situation at Mougulu remains calm.

Three police officers from Kiunga Police Station have been assigned to Mougulu station to provide support and maintain law and order in the district.

"We are not panicking, but we are taking caution and staying alert," a school source said.

School authorities say exams are continuing as scheduled, with staff and students taking necessary precautions.
