Six new ministers sworn in
Prime Minister James Marape today announced the removal of six cabinet ministers, just few hours before parliament resumes at 2pm this afternoon.
Those decommissioned include Simo Kilepa from the Environment Conservation and Climate Change , Joe Kuli as Correctional Service and Sekie Agisa.
Three others were also relieved from their portfolios for health reasons.
They are Timothy Masiu who has been serving as ICT Minister for the last 6 years, Kessy Sawang Labour and Lucas Dekena from Education Minister.
Mr Marape says these changes follow review of cabinet attendance, electoral work commitment and health conditions.
The Prime Minister says some leaders may be disappointed in the decision, but is necessary for the government and service delivery.
Meantime, Moresby North East MP John Kaupa, Delta Fly MP Agena Gamai, Bogia MP Robert Naguri, Francis Kikin Siune Kerowaghi MP, Okapa MP Saki Soloma and former Opposition Leader and Kiriwina Goodenough MP Douglas Tomuriesa were officially sworn into office at Government House.
Prime Minister James Marape his deputy John Rosso and senior cabinet ministers witnessed the swearing- in by Governor General Sir Bob Dadae. Both Marape and Rosso were the first to congratulate the new ministers.
PM Marape is expected to announce the six portfolio allocations today.
The major cabinet reshuffle comes a year before the 2027 national elections.
