Pastors in remote parts of Nembi Plateau LLG are set to improve night services and prepare sermons after receiving solar lights from community leader Fiebik Kilip. The presentations were done at Topua Village.

For years, congregations across the area have struggled to hold evening fellowships and worship services due to the lack of electricity. Many pastors relied on candles and small torches to continue preaching.

Kilip, the former Southern Highlands Provincial Deputy Provincial Administrator for Economic and Social Services, said the donation was aimed at supporting churches that have long filled service gaps where government presence is limited.

“Churches have played a vital role in rural areas by establishing schools, health facilities, roads, and most importantly, by preaching the Gospel,” he said. “In many places where government services have not reached, the church is already there.”

Kilip said the support would help strengthen night services, improve fellowship, and allow churches to continue spreading the Gospel more effectively.

“Partnership between churches, government, and the people is very important,” he said. “When these three work together, communities become peaceful, stable, and developed.”

He added that churches also play a key role in changing mindsets and promoting respect for law and order.

Pastor Dickson Nom of Topua PNG Bible Church thanked Mr. Kilip on behalf of the local churches, describing the assistance as the first of its kind in the area. He said the lack of lighting had been a real challenge for churches, and acknowledged that God had provided relief through Mr. Kilip’s support.
