Simbu launch sports program to boost young talent

Simbu Province rejuvenated its Provincial Junior Sports Development Program on Fiday at the Kundiawa Dicksons Oval.

The pathway program is aimed to harness young talents across various sports, from tracks and courts to open fields and pitches.

Simbu Governor, Noah Kool officially launched the initiative, emphasizing the critical need to nurture sporting talent within the province.

The concept policy, developed by the Simbu Provincial Executive Council (PEC), has secured a total allocation of K1,000 for the program.

Funding will also upgrade common courts, fields, and playing venues across the province, enabling games to be distributed province wide

Governor Kool urged young people in Simbu to seize opportunities through positive participation and discipline, paving the way for success in life via sport.

Kool opened his speech by recognizing rugby league icons like Numapo, Gene, Ilam, Michael Mark, Olam and others who have elevated Simbu's name on the world stage.

The launch culminated in a trial rugby league match between Kundiawa Lutheran Day Secondary and Kongdom Agaundo High school, kicked off by the Governor himself at Dickson Oval in Kundiawa.

Crowds filled the field, reviving the rhythm and hype that once defined the provincial capital.
