Bank South Pacific [BSP] has restored its services after a system glitch disrupted banking transactions across the country earlier today.

The issue was resolved just after 5pm, with customers now able to use their cards at Automatic Teller Machines [ATMs] and EFTPOS terminals.

A BSP customer service agent confirmed to NBC News that the system is now back to normal.

Earlier at around 10am, customers of the country’s largest bank experienced difficulties accessing services, particularly ATM withdrawals and EFTPOS transactions.

The disruption left thousands of customers stranded without access to banking services, prompting many to take to social media to express confusion and frustration.

The outage comes shortly after a recent electronic system failure affecting PNG Power, which also disrupted services nationwide.

The cause of the BSP system glitch is yet to be confirmed.

NBC News will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
