Fijian teams sweep Sports Tok 7s cups

Fiji is taking both major trophies across the Coral Sea after the Devo Babas and Tagimoucia Ranadi claimed the open men’s and women’s titles at the Sports Tok Sevens.

In the open men’s cup final, the tournament favorites Devo Babas delivered a masterclass to defeat the PC Ravens 22-12. The Fijians came out firing to build a commanding 17-0 lead. While a gallant PC Ravens outfit fought back hard in the second half to narrow the margin, the Babas kept their composure to shut down the comeback and reclaim the cup.

Tagimoucia Ranadi made it a double celebration for Fiji in the open women’s cup final, registering a clinical 15-0 shutout victory over the Silver Sirens.

Outside of the main cup finals, local talent put on a show. The open men’s plate final was an absolute blockbuster between the Gerehu Natives and the Patuki Warriors from Hoskins. The Gerehu boys from the nation's capital recovered from a slow start and a 10-5 deficit to power home for a 17-10 win over the boys from Galilo village.

Meanwhile, the open men’s bowl is heading to Buka after the Hangan Pirates defeated the Jokers 17-12 in a thrilling extra-time golden point finish. In the open men’s shield, the Brothers edged out Monaka 22-12.

In other division finals, the Tatiannas walked away with the open women’s bowl, while the Sisters claimed the plate in the open women’s division.

The Under-20 division also delivered plenty of action. The Flying Fox took home the U20 men’s bowl following an impressive 15-0 win over Siporo, and the Pride secured the U20 men’s plate after edging out the Dasi Crows 8-5.
