Once known for tribal conflicts, Hayawi Village, in Tari-Pori District, Hela Province is now coming together through the establishment of the ECPNG Hayawi Youth Fellowship.

Community leader Steven Halimbu says this initiative aims to foster unity and progress among its young people.

"It is essential for communities to guide their youth, rather than solely depending on elected leaders whose responsibilities cover broader provincial, district, and local level government (LLG) development," Halimbu said.

This movement is headed by community leaders Steven Halimbu and Henry Kumapugo. They are encouraging youth to attend fellowship gatherings, worship God, and take part in constructive community activities.

Their efforts are part of the larger ECPNG Tani District Yellow Zone initiative, which focuses on peacebuilding and spiritual growth.

"We cannot always expect the Government, NGOs, or other organizations to do everything for us. We must take initiative and learn to be self-reliant.

The foundation of a nation begins with the family, then the community, ward, LLG, district, province, and finally the country. For a stronger society, we need unity and must promote church and positive community activities," he said.

He thanked the young people who have joined and contributed to the fellowship.
