All Madang PHA vehicles must be Z-plated
Chairman of Madang Provincial Health Authority (MPHA), Dr Boga Figa, has given a directive for all vehicles belonging to MPHA to be Z- plated, and for all drivers to have permits from the Department of Works before they can drive government vehicles.
He issued the directives whilst handing over the keys of two new vehicles to the Chief Executive Officer, Dr Martin Daimen.
The vehicles, a 15-seater bus for shift workers, and a taxi for administration purposes were purchased with a one million kina (K1m) funding assistance from the National Fisheries Authority (NFA).
Dr. Figa acknowledged the NFA and Provincial Government for their ongoing support to Madang PHA
Chief Executive Officer Dr Martin Daimen thanked the NFA and issued similar instructions to the drivers to take heed of.
"Vehicles are important assets to the hospital and are given to use to serve the people, so look after them well. If you wreck them, you will pay the damage costs out of your own pockets." He said.
Meanwhile, Director of Curative Health Services, Dr Jiuth Gawi, applauded the Board Chairman, Dr Figa, and CEO Daimen on behalf the hospital directorate for the bold decision they made to use part of the K1m funding from NFA to purchase the two vehicles.
Dr Gawi said Madang PHA diverts a lot of funds to other areas as vehicle maintenance and service and runs out of funds for operations.
"Vehicles are service enablers, and we are thankful the new vehicle can now ease our transport needs as well as strengthen our clinical services." Dr Gawi said.
