NGIP Agmark stakes claim in Lae’s commercial heart with new ‘Top Town’ hub
Agribusiness giant NGIP Agmark has established a major push into the Morobe market, opening a strategic retail footprint on 9th Street in Lae’s high-traffic "Top Town" area.
The opening of the new shop will bridge the gap between rural farming needs and urban commercial accessibility, positioning the company’s specialized agricultural supplies directly within reach of the province's growing farming community.
Branch Manager Yaking Lotto said the move to 9th Street was a calculated decision based on visibility and logistics. By moving into the city's commercial center, NGIP Agmark aims to eliminate the travel hurdles farmers often face when sourcing high-quality inputs.
"The new location was selected for its accessibility and exposure," Lotto said. "Bringing these agricultural items to Top Town makes it convenient for farmers and ensures the NGIP Agmark brand is visible to the wider Morobe public."
The new outlet creates synergy by sharing a premises with sister company Agmark Machinery. This co-location transforms the site into a comprehensive hub where farmers can source everything from specialized tools to heavy machinery in a single visit.
However, the expansion is not just about sales. Lotto said the company’s Free Advisory Service remains a core part of their mission. This service provides smallholder farmers with technical expertise to improve crop yields and farm management.
"We work in partnership with smallholder farmers to build their capacity through our advisory services," Lotto said. "It’s about growing the industry alongside our business."
NGIP Agmark is betting on the resilience of Morobe’s agriculture sector by planting a flag in Top Town. As the province continues to serve as a vital link in the Highlands and Momase supply chains, the presence of an accessible, advisory-led retail shop is expected to drive higher standards in local production.
