Kimbe to host NGI snooker titles

Kimbe in West New Britain Province is set for an exhilarating showdown as it prepares to stage the 2025 New Guinea Islands Snooker Open titles from the
5th to the 7th of this month.

The cue tournament sanctioned by the Papua New Guinea Billiards and Snooker Association will see pool enthusiasts from around the province, including Kavieng and Port Moresby, go head-to-head with Kimbe’s own local stars.

A total of 32 finest pool enthusiasts will be vying for the prestigious Open Cup titles while 8 Women will battle out in the Females category.

According to the President of Kimbe Cue Sports Association John Sitapai, the open titles tournament will begin on Friday and end on Sunday with the grand final and awards presentations.

In the Open category, the winner walks away with K4,000 and the NGI Open title cup, while in the Women’s category, the winner takes home K2,000 and the NGI Open title trophy.

President Sitapai said this is the second NGI snooker open titles proudly sponsored by the Governor for WNBP Sasindran Muthuvel and Member for Talasea District Freddie Kumai with support sponsors from other business houses including Lawrence Lahari who supplied tournament uniforms.

The tournament will be staged at San Remo Club, New Mosa Club and Mosa Community Club respectively.
