Lae Biscuit Company backs Touch Federation with K20,000 boost for National Championship
Touch Federation Papua New Guinea [TFPNG] has received a timely K20,000 sponsorship from Lae Biscuit Company [LBC] to support the upcoming National Touch Championship in Milne Bay.
The package includes K10,000 cash and K10,000 worth of LBC products, placing the company in TFPNG’s bronze-level sponsorship category.
The support, made possible through LBC managing director John Chow, the Chow family, and the company’s long-standing commitment to sports development in PNG, reinforces LBC’s reputation as one of the country’s most consistent corporate backers of local athletes and sporting associations.
“We are happy to announce that we are sponsoring the upcoming National Touch Championship in Milne Bay and coming on board as a bronze sponsor,” Chow said.
He added that LBC was encouraged by TFPNG’s strengthened executive leadership and its drive to grow the code nationwide.
“PNG is setting the gold standard for touch footy in the Pacific, and there is a lot of opportunity for support. We want to help create more opportunities for players,” he said.
“I hope that by coming on board, we show our trust in the federation’s vision. Lae Biscuit Company has always supported sports like rugby league, and this is another part of giving back to the community.”
TFPNG president Steven Kuimp, along with executives Isikeli Gewa and Andrew Ari Peter, received the sponsorship on behalf of the federation.
“On behalf of TFPNG, its executive, and the touch footy fraternity, I thank John Chow, the Chow family and Lae Biscuit Company for their support,” Kuimp said. “We want to set the right platform and reach out to everyone, and it is through sponsorship like this that more doors open for us.”
Kuimp highlighted TFPNG’s five-year development plan, which focuses on good governance and strong administration to lift the standards of touch football across the country.
The sponsorship will support the staging of the National Touch Championship and will also see participating teams receive LBC stock valued at K10,000.
The National Touch Championship will be held from December 10–14 at Alice Wedega Park in Alotau, Milne Bay Province.
