Melanesian football fans to enjoy multi-media coverage of MSG Prime Ministers Cup
Football followers across Melanesia will be able to watch and listen to the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Prime Ministers Football Cup thanks to a new broadcasting partnership with Papua New Guinea’s National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC).
NBC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the tournament’s Host Organizing Committee on Friday, securing the rights to broadcast the OFC-sanctioned event. The coverage will reach audiences in Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Fiji, and across all provinces in PNG. Fans outside Melanesia can also follow the games via NBC’s online portal at www.nbc.com.pg
During the signing ceremony, Host Organizing Committee Chairman Leonard Louma praised NBC’s role in making the tournament accessible to a wider audience.
“It is fitting that a tournament funded by the national government is supported by our national broadcaster,” Louma said. “I would like to thank the Managing Director of NBC for ensuring facilities are available so communities in PNG and across MSG countries can see and hear the games.”
NBC Managing Director Kora Nou said the broadcaster was delighted to partner with the committee and expand its reach into the Melanesian region.
“We are happy to broadcast these games not only in PNG but across MSG, the Pacific, and worldwide,” Nou said. “We will provide coverage via radio, television, and live streaming, pretty much all platforms covered,” Nou said.
PNG Football Association President John Kapi Natto described the partnership as a major boost for the sport.
“This is a big plus for us. NBC has supported our matches across the country through livestreaming, and we are excited to partner with them again to bring these games to everyone,” Natto said.
The MSG Prime Ministers Cup broadcast agreement is set to provide fans throughout Melanesia and beyond with unprecedented access to one of the region’s premier football tournaments.
