Papua New Guinea has been confirmed as the host nation for the 2033 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation [APEC] Leaders’ Summit.

Prime Minister James Marape announced the news this morning before departing Port Moresby’s Jacksons International Airport for Brazil, where he will attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference [COP30].

This will be the second time PNG hosts the APEC Leaders’ Summit, following the successful 2018 event in Port Moresby, which brought together leaders from the 20 APEC economies.

Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso represented PNG at the recently concluded APEC Summit in South Korea, where the formal declaration for PNG to host the 2033 summit was made.
