The Huon Gulf District Development Authority [HGDDA] has stepped in with K150,000 to support the smooth running of the 2025 Local-Level Government [LLG] elections across the district.

Initiated by the HGDDA Chairman and local MP, Jason Peter, the funding assistance was warmly welcomed by the Wampar LLG Manager Kamis Koneri, who expressed that this support would help to ensure an efficient and fair election process.

“The funds will be shared equally among the Salamaua, the Morobe and the Wampar LLGs. The three LLGs will be receiving K50,000 each, to assist with election operations on the ground," Koneri said.

Polling officially began today (Monday 27th October), with election teams already deployed to wards across the three LLGs.

“We conducted refresher training over the weekend and are now fully prepared to begin polling,” Mr Koneri confirmed.

Polling for Wampar LLG started with the Urban wards today and will move to Rural Wampar this Thursday [30th, October].

As for the Salamaua and the Morobe LLGs, polling for both will start this Thursday.
