Voting begins Monday for Hela LLG elections

The Hela Provincial Local Level Government [LLG] Election Monitoring Committee will proceed with the elections on Monday, October 27th.

Komo Hulia District will hold its LLG elections from the 27th to 29th, Magarima on the 30th to November 1, Tari Pori from November 3 to 5, and Koroba Lake Kopiago from November 6 to 8.

Electoral awareness on the upcoming LLG elections was carried out on Friday in Tari Town, led by Hela Provincial Election Manager John Tipa, who urged voters to be prepared and take part responsibly.

He said counting and the official declaration of results will take place at a central location to ensure transparency and efficiency.

Mr. Tipa also expressed confidence that Hela will once again deliver a peaceful and successful LLG election.

"We have previously delivered orderly and credible National General Elections", he said. "Despite the negative perceptions held by people from other provinces, we have consistently demonstrated our respect for the democratic process".

During the awareness session, community members raised concerns about logistics and security for the upcoming elections, including the availability of personnel.

Tipa said that limited funds may mean fewer security officers during the elections. He asked local leaders and Christian groups in each ward to help keep peace, saying their support is important for a fair and smooth election.
