The Central Province is ready to kick-start the election process in the province.

With so much delay and frustration among voters and candidates, the date for the Local Level Government elections has now been confirmed to start Monday, October 27.

Central Province Acting Deputy Provincial Election Manager, Lista Gabi made this known on NBC Radio Central on Friday.

"We are all set in logistics wise and teams," Gabi said.

In the last two weeks, polling materials had been dispatched for the Vanapa Brown LLG and, Koiari LLG before the deferral was announced.

Three LLG's in Abau, four LLG's in Rigo and Hiri, Gwari and Waitape had their polling materials dispatched on Friday. The materials had been kept in storage in a container at the Boroko electoral commission office since early this year.

The Acting Provincial Administrator for Central Province and Chairman of the Central Province Election Advisory Committee, Bala Kapa has assured both candidates and voters that the province is ready to roll the elections starting Monday.

"We've waited for six months, and I know there's a lot of frustration and a lot of concerns being raised by people, but it's beyond our control. It's a national function and only when the national government and the national institution, the Electoral Commission, are ready, then they run these elections," Kapa said.

Kapa urged all eligible voters to participate and exercise their rights to choose leaders as elections are an important democratic process.
