Henganofi MP Robert Atiyafa has expressed deep disappointment and shame over the killing of the bus driver who is from Togoba Mile in the Western Highlands Province.

He made the remarks when addressing the Route 100 Bus owners and drivers at the National Park in Goroka yesterday.

MP Atiyafa says the killing of the bis driver has caused distress and disharmony in the community and put local businesses at risk.

"As the MP for Henganofi, I'm deeply saddened by the actions of a few individuals who are undermining our community's peace and stability,' he said.

"These actions not only harm our social fabric but also jeopardize the livelihoods of our people who work hard to build and sustain their families and businesses," he said.

The MP condemned the brutal killing, labeling the perpetrators 'agents of the devil' with no regard for human life.

'Those involved in this evil act don't deserve to live among us,' he said

The MP described the driver as a hero who sacrificed his life to save others.

"The driver showed remarkable courage and selflessness in the face of danger by ensuring the safety of his passengers, he demonstrated the true spirit of heroism.' Mr Atiyafa added.

MP Atiyafa said he will continue to discuss with Governor Simon Sia ways to support the bus owners and drivers, particularly in facilitating their trip to Hagen to pay their respects to the deceased driver's family."
