A landmark initiative to establish the Gobo School of Excellence in Jiwaka has received a strong endorsement from the Teaching Service Commission.

A contingent from TSC and local MP Wake Goi visited the host community to ensure there is commitment by all stakeholders to support the school.

The high-level delegation met with community leaders to discuss the critical steps of teacher service validation and compliance ahead of the school's planned opening next year.

TSC Commissioner for Operations, Maini Ugaia, praised MP Goi's vision and delivered a clear and direct message to the people of Gobo, underscoring the TSC's primary requirement for posting teachers.

"It's a big responsibility for this community. The school has no fence, villagers must provide security to teachers and students," said Ugaia.

The school itself is designed with a clear strategic purpose, as detailed by Provincial Guidance Officer John Kui.

" It will initially operate as a premier institution for 200 to 300 of the top-performing female students from across the province's 27 high schools, focusing on Grades 11 and 12", said Kui.

Kui added that this requires the best possible teaching staff, whose deployment is dependent on TSC approval.

To support this vision, Jimi MP Wake Goi outlined a comprehensive plan to ensure the school meets the high standards required for validation.

He announced a 9-month construction timeline to build classrooms and teachers' houses, and water supply among others.

MP Goi says these significant investments in infrastructure and teacher welfare are fundamental to meeting the Teaching Service Commission's standards for compliance and ensuring the school can attract top-tier educators.

Goi says this learning institution will provide secondary education for the remote girls population and is a significant government investment

The Jimi MP further guaranteed his personal financial support to kickstart operations before national TFF funding becomes available. "I will support this school with necessary funding to get it off the ground," said MP Goi.

The establishment of the Gobo School of Excellence represents a collaborative effort, with its ultimate success resting on the partnership between government investment, TSC validation, and the unwavering community support required to meet compliance standards.
