O’Neill highlights concern over delayed school funds and medicine shortages

Ialibu Pangia MP Peter O’Neill has highlighted a late disbursement of funds for the Government’s tuition fee free project, including lack of funds for medicine supplies in his electorate.

He says provinces and districts cannot be using their district funds and operational funds for basic services like health and education.

He claimed tuition fee free funds have yet to be disbursed to schools in his electorate.

The former Prime Minister also highlighted an increasing death rate, reportedly due to the lack of medicine supplies in the health facilities.

His comments were met with rebuttal from Education Minister Lucas Dawa Dekena, who says all TFF funds were fully paid for last year, and this year’s first two terms with this term’s funds being remitted to schools this week.

Health Minister Elias Kapavore also countered this statement, saying about K172 million from this year’s budget allocation of K294 million for medicine supplies has been released to date for procurement:
