Body found in Madang Harbour

Police in Madang have retrieved the body of a young man from the Madang Harbour early this morning.

The body was sighted floating near the Nelric boat stop by locals who were travelling into town by boat.

They immediately alerted police to the scene where they retrieved the body and brought it to the hospital mortuary.

The body has been identified as that of a male from Southern Highlands Province who resides at the PLP residence within the Central Business District area.

His relatives confirmed the young man was fully drunk last night and was last seen between 4 and 5am today in front of the Top Night Club, which is also located within the CBD area, meters away from the seafront where the body was discovered.

Cirucumstances surrounding the death are not known at this stage, however; police are investigating the death.
