Blockholders in Kaugere to receive land titles

A total of 300 block holders at Kaugare in the Moresby South electorate will be receiving their land titles after the documentation process is completed.
The Contract of Sales were signed today after being presented by local MP and Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko, Housing Minister Dr Kobby Bomareo, National Housing Corporation [NHC] David Tol at Don Bisco Technical College today.
During the presentation Housing Minister Dr Kobby Bomareo said," it's not easy to get the land title, the process is quite lengthy but through collaborative effort it was made possible.

"Giving title will now give power to the people so can take ownership of the land they occupy and bring in tangible development, raise children well and educate them."
The first five block holders have signed Contract of Sale with the National Housing Corporation [NHC], with the remaining batch to sign at NHC headquarters in the coming week.

Moresby South is the first electorate where the people worked in collaboration with local MP Justin Tkatchenko and the National Capital Districts Commission [NCDC] to make this happen.
Mr Tkatchenko said Moresby-South DDA and NCDC will meet the necessary costs for them to acquire the title.
"Each house will cost K30,000. That money will be paid. We want to have a permanent place to live in the city.
"Now we start with Kaugare, same will be rolled out throughout the district.
"But let me appeal, if you get your title, please don't sell it to anyone," Tkatchenko said.
Meanwhile, NHC Managing Director Abel Tol said his staff will visit each household to collect the necessary information and urged residents to cooperate during the process.
