Hela government commits K3 million for Fugwa Loop road

The Hela Provincial Government has committed K3 million to the construction of the Fugwa Loop Road in the Koroba-Lake Kopiago District.
The announcement was made last Friday by Provincial Election Manager John Tipa, who also volunteers in various community initiatives.
The Fugwa community, once plagued by years of tribal conflict, has now laid down arms and embraced peace, paving the way for long-awaited development.
The road project is expected to proceed following the signing of a peace agreement last Friday.
Previous attempts to develop the road by former and current MPs, including local MP William Bando, and the Hela Provincial Government, were unsuccessful due to persistent tribal clashes.
Mr Tipa announced that Governor Philip Undialu has now committed the funding to ensure the project finally moves forward.
