The Melanesian Spearhead Group Leaders have agreed to write two different letters to the Governments of France and the Republic of Indonesia.

These letters will represent a joint statement embracing the rights of West Papuans and nationals of New Caledonia who are calling for self-independence.

Prime Minister James Marape says the MSG leaders had a lengthy discussion to find a better solution to address the plight of these two Melanesian groups.

PM Marape says the letters will be delivered soon.
