50th Independence anniversary floral display wins first place at the Goroka Flower Show.

Over the two days, judges selected three winners from the three categories: 50th Independence Anniversary, Bilum, and Wedding Bouquet.

Thresa Minimulu a local florist in Goroka was the overall winner of the 3rd Goroka Flower Show.She received K1,500 for the best 50th Independence Anniversary floral design plus K500 for the best stall.

The best Floral bilum design was awarded to Save Ben.She received K1500 in cash and other items.

A woman florist from Jiwaka, Barbra Bomai, got the best Wedding Bouquet. She received K1500 cash and other items.

Mrs Minimulu says this is the first time she took part in the flower Show and was amazed to be the winner of the 3rd Goroka flower show.

"It's just amazing. I am so happy and so pleased that all the effort has been worthwhile", she said.

Goroka Show Chairlady Karyn Hargraves says judging was difficult as the entrants were competitive.

"I am super impressed with the florists' talents and creativity".

"They're all too good but only one has to be the winner", she said.

She congratulated the winners and others for participating and called on them to work harder next year.

The event was sponsored by Governor Simon Sia, Wine Star, Monpi Coffee Export, Nokondi Investment, and Ocean Kava.
