Transport Minister Goi refutes misappropriation allegations

Minister for Transport and Civil Aviation, Wake Goi, has brushed aside allegations of misappropriating K2.4 million related to unauthorized security arrangements at Niusky Pacific Limited.
He told NBC News tonight that the allegations are merely retaliation by former employees of Niusky Pacific who were terminated.
Whilst the Minister does not condone actions of corruption, he questioned why it took the staff so long to report the matter.
He says he's been in office for only a short while and these allegations happened during the time of the former Minister.
According to Minister Goi, the warrant of arrest issued for the Acting Managing Director Graham Blythe and Board Chairman Robin Kawat had defects in it, hence cancelled yesterday [Thursday].
"It's been referred back to a file that's been requested by the boss of CID. I believe it was an individual policeman working on it or something like this, not really from the CID perspective. The office of the CID was not notified. The evidence that they provided to obtain a warrant of arrest did not correspond with each other. Some defects were identified. Maybe they will work on a new one, I'm not sure, but we'll see next week and onwards. But at the moment, the file was requested by OIC, CID to be sent down to Konedobu for tracking and analyzing it thoroughly," Minister Goi said.
Meanwhile, the transport minister is urging everyone to cooperate with the ongoing investigations while the matter is before the courts.
