PNG among regional participants in inaugural Women in Media conference underway in Fiji

The inaugural Women in Media Fiji Conference is currently underway in Suva, bringing together women content producers from across the Pacific region for two days of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.
The event aims to empower women working in media by creating a platform to discuss challenges, share experiences, and build networks that support leadership and career development.
A delegation from PNG Women in Media [WiM] is attending the conference, led by Belinda Kora. Their participation has been made possible through sponsorship from the ABC International Development’s PNG Media Development Initiative, a project focused on strengthening media in Papua New Guinea.
Key discussions at the conference include; women in media leadership, barriers faced by women in the media industry, cyberbullying and online safety for women journalists and strategies for professional empowerment and personal resilience.
The two-day event was officially opened by Fiji’s Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, Sashi Kiran, who acknowledged the vital role women play in shaping public narratives and fostering inclusive societies through media.
The conference marks an important milestone in strengthening regional cooperation and amplifying the voices of Pacific women in media.
