Castleford Tigers confirm departure of hooker Judah Rimbu by mutual agreement

Castleford Tigers have confirmed the departure of hooker Judah Rimbu following a mutual agreement to release the player from his contract, allowing him to explore new opportunities elsewhere.
Rimbu, 23, signed with the Tigers ahead of the 2024 season on a two-year deal from Queensland Cup outfit PNG Hunters. During his time at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle, the Papua New Guinean international made ten appearances for the club and was awarded heritage number 1062.
Tigers Director of Rugby Chris Chester expressed gratitude for Rimbu's contribution, saying, “I would like to thank Judah for his time and efforts at the club. He wanted first team opportunities, but unfortunately, we couldn’t guarantee them. After amicable discussions, we granted him release by mutual agreement. We’d like to wish him the best for the future.”
Rimbu also shared his appreciation and reasoning behind the decision. “I’d like to thank the fans and supporters who have welcomed me to the club, but I’ve decided to move on," Rimbu said.
"The club gave me the opportunity to play Super League and I’ll always be thankful for the chance they gave me.
"It’s a mutual agreement between myself and the club. I’m doing what’s best for the club and what's best for myself.
"I’m going to return home and pursue other opportunities and take it from there.”
Rimbu's exit marks a respectful end to his short stint in West Yorkshire, as both player and club look ahead to fresh chapters.
