A young man from Wutung Village in Vanimo West Sepik Province was found dead yesterday in Kotaraja outside of Jayapura City, Papua Province of Indonesia

The man is identified as Bruno Tanfa Junior from Wutung Village. According to the PNG Consulate General to Indonesia, Geoffrey Wiri, late Tanfa was with some of his friends in Jayapura and was found dead on Wednesday.

Wiri says his office has not received any information as yet from the Indonesian Police or relatives of the deceased on the circumstances surrounding his death.

Vanimo police confirmed that the deceased is Bruno Tanfa Junior and said Police in Indonesia are doing an investigation and will soon release information on the cause of his death.

Meanwhile, Ward Member for Wutung Village Ray Tanji has called on the National Government to further tighten the border security.

He says this is an ongoing issue in the border villages of Vanimo where illegal crossing, drug smuggling, and many other illegal activities happen every day.

Mr Tanji says there should also be more police officers based at the border to monitor. At the moment, the police posts in Wutung have only a few police officers and are underfunded.

He further added that security at the border is important, and for the Wurung Trade Centre to open for business, security must be guaranteed.
