Supplementary immunization launched in East Sepik

Women and girls between the ages of 14 to 44 in the East Sepik Province, have been urged to get themselves immunized, during this supplementary round of vaccinations.
East Sepik Provincial Health Authority [ESPHA], Acting Chief Executive Officer, and Director Public Health, Stanley Masi, said this when launching the campaign in Wewak town this morning [Wednesday].
Mr. Masi says that this significant health initiative is aimed at eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus, which may have re-emerged after a break in immunization activities.
East Sepik Deputy Provincial Administrator, and ESPHA Board Chairman, Godfried Raushem, when officially launching the event, says that though tetanus is a life-threatening disease, it is entirely preventable through immunization.
This campaign will roll out in three crucial rounds, with the first in June, followed by a second round in July, and the final vaccinations are scheduled for August this year.
