The refurbished Madang police traffic office has reopened for use following a major refurbishment carried out by Raibus Engineering, a local Madang- based company.

The renovation was made possible through a collaborative effort between the Madang police, the Madang Provincial Government, and Ramu Nickel Mine.

Ramu Nickel provided a financial assistance of over K81, 000 for the refurbishment work in response to a formal request from the office of the Madang Governor, Ramsey Pariwa.

Provincial Police Commander, Acting Superintendent Robert Baim said the refurbished police traffic office is an old colonial building that was previously used by other government agencies before police traffic moved in.

"However, it has been lacking maintenance for several decades until I decided to have it renovated," PPC Baim said.

Eric Kuman, General Manager of Community Affairs with Ramu Nickel Mine, said the successful completion of the building maintenance and supply of office furniture marks another milestone in community-focused infrastructure development in the province.

"This initiative was carried out in partnership with Raibus Engineering, which was engaged as the contractor to deliver the refurbishment works.

"The maintenance works included structural repairs, repainting, and general upgrades to improve the functionality and working environment for the Police Traffic officers," Kuman said.

In addition to the building maintenance, Kuman said that the project also included the procurement and supply of essential office furniture, further enhancing operational capacity and morale within the police unit.

He added that the project was efficiently delivered under the prudent project management oversight of Ramu Nico’s dedicated team, showcasing their commitment to sustainable development and community welfare within the region.

Further, this initiative reflects the ongoing support of the resource sector in contributing to public infrastructure and fostering strong partnerships between government agencies and the private sector.
