Court sets July 4 for Kramer’s dismissal review hearing

The Waigani National Court has scheduled July 4 as the date to hear the substantive review application filed by Madang MP Bryan Kramer, who is challenging his dismissal from office by a leadership tribunal.
Justice Purdon Sully made the announcement in court on Tuesday, also issuing several new procedural orders to advance the case.
One key change includes the official replacement of the State with the Attorney General as a respondent in the proceeding. This adjustment, ordered by the court, positions the Attorney General as a central party in the legal review.
Justice Sully also extended the deadline for parties to file their case documents to June 10, giving both sides more time to prepare. In a further move to streamline the process, the court ruled that a ‘Review Book’, a typically required document summarizing the case, will not be necessary for this hearing.
The court confirmed the substantive hearing will proceed at 9:30 am on July 4, when the legal grounds of Kramer’s challenge will be fully heard.
The Madang MP was dismissed from office after a leadership tribunal found him guilty of misconduct. He has since taken the matter to court, arguing that the tribunal’s decision should be subject to legal scrutiny and review.
Justice Sully emphasized the need for all parties to act swiftly on the new orders to ensure the case progresses without further delays.
