Madang Country Club donates K48,000 to Gaubin rural hospital

The Madang Country Club presented a cheque of K48,000 to Gaubin Rural Hospital this week to assist in the renovation of its labor ward, operating theatre, and water supply system.
The club quietly presented the cheque to the hospital management on Wednesday.
Executives of the club, including President Robert Turik, George Ireng, President of Madang Golf, Club Manager, Robin Mea, and Social Coordinator and Acting Club Secretary Ebony Seeto, were present to witness the cheque presentation at the club.
At hand, to receive the cheque were Japalis Kaiok, National Health Director of Lutheran Health Services in PNG, and Yang Letag, the Hospital Administrator at Gaubin.
Mr Ireng explained that the K48,000 was proceeds from monies raised in the 2024 Prime Minister's Charity Ambrose Golf Event that was sponsored by Kumul Minerals Holdings Limited.

"The funds were initially intended to purchase a new x- ray machine, but since some donors have already purchased one, these funds will now be used to renovate the hospital's labour ward, operating theatre and upgrade the hospital's water system," Mr Ireng said.
As a club, Ireng said they would like to thank the Prime Minister, James Marape; for the initiative. He said partnerships, such as with the Madang Country Club, to host such events to support the health sector in the province go a long way. He also extended the Club's appreciation to business houses in the province that came out last year to support the event.
Madang Country Club plans to stage a similar event in August this year to assist another health facility in the province. The Club will again be inviting business houses to support the event, which is set to take place in August.
Mr Kaiok whilst receiving the cheque expressed sincere gratitude to Madang Country Club for the great initiative.
He described the donation as a "blessing," adding it came at the right time when the hospital really needs help.
On behalf of Lutheran Health Services in the country, Mr Kaiok also extended appreciation to the Prime Minister, Kumul Minerals Holdings Limited and all business houses that participated in last year's event.
"We will come back and report to the club when we complete the renovation works so you took can become part of our celebration;" Mr Kaiok said.
The same initiative also raised K1 million for the Madang Provincial Hospital in 2023.
This was supposed to go towards the purchase of much- needed medical equipment for the hospital's Intensive Care Unit.
