Warrick Simatab appointed new Metropolitan Superintendent for NCD Police

Superintendent Warrick Simatab has been appointed as the new Metropolitan Superintendent of the National Capital District (NCD) Police Command, according to a statement issued by Divisional Commander of NCD/Central, Assistant Commissioner of Police Benjamin Turi.
Simatab, a career officer who began his policing journey in 1992 as a constable, brings over three decades of experience in both operational and administrative roles within the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary.
Throughout his career, he has held a number of key positions, including service in public safety and criminal investigations in the NCD, a leadership role at Police Headquarters in the Human Resource Division, and most recently, Director of Human Resource Management in 2020.
He returned to the NCD Police Command in late 2023 as Superintendent Administration, focusing on enhancing internal support systems for frontline operations.
In response to his appointment, Simatab expressed gratitude and a strong sense of duty.
"I’m humbled and honored to be appointed as the Metropolitan Superintendent for the National Capital District,” he said.
“It’s both a privilege and a serious responsibility to serve the people of our nation's capital and to lead the brave men and women of the NCD Police Command."
He also emphasized his commitment to supporting broader policing objectives.
"I look forward to supporting the Divisional Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police Benjamin Turi, in implementing the NCD Annual Management Plan,” Simatab said.
“Our collective goal is to align with the Police Commissioner’s strategic direction, ensure the successful delivery of provincial and district development plans, and provide clear, visible indicators of police service delivery to every Papua New Guinean."
The appointment is expected to bring renewed focus to accountability, professionalism, good governance, and community engagement within the NCD Police Command.
