200 police reservists to be deployed to Hela

About 200 police reservists will be deployed to Hela Province to boost police manpower and to help reinforce the rule of law and ensure public safety.
Internal Security Minister, Peter Tsiamalili Junior says the Hela Provincial Government and PNG Royal Constabulary will sign a Memorandum of Understanding this week to pave the way for this to happen.
Minister Tsiamalili also noted that 80 new recruits for this year are set to join the police force in Hela, further solidifying the province's safety measures.
The Hela Provincial Government has already invested in the future of the law enforcement by constructing 60 brand new homes for police officers, with 40 more under construction.
Hela Governor, Phillip Undialu has acknowledged the support of Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary [RPNGC] as Hela continues to invest in building the capacity of law and order sector in the province.
He also called for existing long-serving police officers in the province to be recognized and promoted before reaching their retirement age.
Additionally, the Hela Provincial Government also signed an MOU with Correctional Services to have an additional 300 manpower to boost its existing 50 manpower at Hawa prison.
This event coincided with the installation of Hela's new resident judge in Tari township, recently.
