Jiwaka Province will now save a huge amount of money spent annually on vehicle registrations, driving licenses, insurance, and other related services, while also building its internal revenue.

This is made possible through the establishment of the Motor Vehicle Insurance Limited [MVIL] office in Minj.

The new MVIL office is established through partnerships between the MVIL management, the Jiwaka Provincial Government, and the national government through the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises.

State Owned Enterprises Minister William Duma commissioned this office last Thursday, the 22nd, and encouraged the leaders to work together to build the new Jiwaka province.

Mr Duma said that leaders for Jiwaka and Western Highland must work together to build their province.

He said that under the good leadership of the CEO, Michael Makap, MVIL has made a net value asset close to K1billion.

“Political stability is one important factor that will move the district and province forward.” Duma said this and encouraged the people of Jiwaka not to change political leaders every election term.

Michael Makap said this office would save the cost of travel to other provinces like Simbu and Western Highlands for vehicle registration.

Mr Makap said Jiwaka residents previously had to travel to Mt Hagen or Port Moresby for vehicle insurance, accident compensation, and related services, but that will now be a thing of the past.

Simon Kaiwi, Jiwaka Provincial Member, said that such services are important for the province to be recognized.

Mr Kaiwi said that as one of the founding fathers of the province, he is working hard to strengthen provincial administration, law and order, education, and other key sectors, including the establishment of vital offices such as the MVIL.

The new MVIL office was commissioned during a joint event that also saw PNG DataCo launch its School Digital Connectivity Program in Jiwaka.

The joint program was witnessed by MVIL CEO Michael Makap, Bafino Koi – Chief Operating Officer, plus other important dignitaries from the office of the MVIL and from the office of PNG DataCo, including Dr Thomas Webster – DataCo Chairman, Des Blake – Director, plus other DataCo Executive management, including Palus Ain, ICCC Commissioner, amongst important elites from the province.
